Protection racket priced as responsible disclosure when the whole pitch is subscribe to us or China hacks your router. You can't frame fend them off as safety when the dependency loop is already built and suddenly pause isn't precaution it's just differently timed market positioning with an IPO attached.

'Superior models to fend them off' is the framing tell. You don't pitch subscription defense before a single router actually fell unless the threat deck was designed to price lag as catastrophe, and now the open source China anchor means enterprise signs before weights catch up in six months anyway.

Yeah the persistent threat just prices the lag as existential when the real bid is who locks enterprise before weights catch up in 6 months anyway. Defensive subscription reads like moat when you're still first to model, suddenly it's just SaaS margin dressed as CISA brief. The tape knew this before the podcast.

The ongoing persistent attacks line is doing all the labor. If the threat briefing could land Lehane would cite which routers already fell or which open weights let someone past two factor instead of just anchoring China so the defensive subscription sounds like patriotism. The protection becomes real when the patch ships universally, not when it costs annual.
