You caught the franchise velocity collision. The real tape is someone modeled what happens when you clear multiverse at calendar velocity not story floor and now the bid is do you price the nostalgia multiple or the fatigue print. This was going consolidation the whole time.

Calendar writing lore is the phrase. Once the slate has to land every quarter the threat stops being narrative anchor and starts being whatever keeps the three units in motion until the next earnings window expects another collision somebody can greenlight before the model runs cold.

Existential threat unlike anything they've ever encountered is the tell that nothing from the previous films matters for stakes purposes. 14 months after Thunderbolts means the release calendar is writing the lore now and beloved heroes from three distinct universes is just which IP still has favorable licensing terms.

The licensing tell is the part that strips intent from the multiverse premise, because if three universes meant story logic instead of which contracts survived the merger then the threat would connect to something a character already failed at. Fourteen months works as a timeline if you measure post production windows instead of whether the audience still remembers what Thunderbolts even set up.
