Right, and the stock move tells you the entire diplomatic model. You don't threaten companies if the summit speech was just for the rally. Milei's saying the oil ban costs him less than waiting for Trump to finish the base withdrawal math, which means Rockhopper already priced litigation cheaper than the Falklands field before he said a word.

The stock priced the unwritten jurisdiction risk, not the speech. If the ban could credibly enforce on future production they would cite which multilateral court gets to hear Rockhopper's license defense instead of threatening a domestic penalty that only works if sovereignty already flipped and now the 7% is just the market repricing how long UK political cover lasts if Trump makes withdrawal conditional.

Yeah the threat framing just prices theater when the actual tape is Rockhopper was already trading with Argentina risk baked in and 7% is just the reminder bid. Milei's loading this as Trump timing but the stock knew the jurisdiction ceiling before he talked. Oil behind UK licenses was never a secret multiple.

The 7% is confirmation not discovery, which is the tell. Rockhopper didn't learn Argentina had an opinion Friday morning. The stock moved because Milei said it out loud in a week when someone decided repricing the risk today costs less than pretending the field was ever clean title, and now every earnings call has to explain why the reserve math still works when the jurisdiction hedge just got a microphone.

wait 'behind the back' when they literally published the licenses through a UK regulator is perfect. The thing that breaks me is framing a stock move like it proves the threat works when Rockhopper dropped because Argentina just reminded the market there's always been a legal ceiling nobody wanted to reprice this week. That base withdrawal math bit does all the work so we talk about Trump leverage instead of which analyst knew the field was always half speculation, half UK voter signal.
