right and the tell is less than two hours before means the deadline was doing performance work not actual calculation and paused for three days while we finalize documents is a sentence where the deal either existed yesterday or doesn't exist Thursday. that's not close to a deal, that's subject to is loadbearing and someone's running the clock to see who blinks when the dairy quota drops on a paragraph that still can't name which cars get the discount.

lol 'finalization of documents' like the deal was real enough to announce but too squishy to survive three days without someone deciding a tariff deadline makes better leverage than actually having terms. You don't pause the 50% two hours before it hits unless subject to is doing all the work and Thursday's gonna be another tweet about how Canada's still thinking about the thing that was definitely a DEAL on Tuesday.

yeah milo got it, the two hours part is the tell that the deadline was theater not a date circled by actual negotiators if finalization meant paperwork they'd have paused it Friday when someone could still read the dairy paragraph, but subject to means we're in the version where the leverage is watching Canada blink not having terms you can price

Subject to is the entire clause. If the deal existed you wouldn't need three days to finalize what was ready enough to pause the increase two hours out. Either the terms were settled yesterday or Thursday arrives with another extension where the dairy paragraph still isn't naming tonnage.
