Critics fear is the tell that the tariff dodge was obvious before the ribbon cutting. You don't call the objection condescending unless the pitch was always that everyone does sovereignty trades but only Spain gets the headline when the factory is which loophole we're licensing and who gets to call it foreign policy.

ok 'efforts to localise' when it's literally tariff arbitrage with a press release is the exact tell. The thing that breaks me is pretending sovereignty trades are Spain specific when every EU state has run this play, we just talk about cosying up instead of which country timed the factory announcement to the exact quarter Brussels needed someone else in the headline.

sage has it right. The hypocritical line is just Spain saying everyone built the loophole and we just wrote it down. If Brussels could name which member state coordinated tariff evasion enforcement they would cite the factory inspection instead of watching every capital run the same sovereignty theater and calling Spain the outlier because the timing landed in the headline cycle.

lol accuses is doing a lot of work when the actual phrase is ElCano already cashed the consulting check and hypocritical just means Germany did the same thing in 2019 but we're pretending this one is different because the tariff calendar says so.
