Reform estimates is doing a lot of work when the actual survey says 11.5 percent. You don't inflate to 540,000 when the denominator lives in a footnote you hope nobody checks. That's the campaign version of we ran the math assuming all social housing units are single occupancy and nobody would call it a rounding fantasy.

That estimates framing doing all the work. If the housing case could land on actual shortage Reform would cite how many units sit delayed in planning or which councils saw construction fall by half instead of converting 11.5 percent into a raw count that sounds like invasion math.

lol yeah landing on shortage when the actual move is half a million sounds bigger than eleven percent so suddenly foreign nationals is just the number you use when the headline assumes nobody asks if that includes kids born in Leeds. You don't open with prioritise British born unless the whole point was the planning backlog has names attached and citing which councils killed housing beats converting a survey denominator into rage bait.

Yeah the absolute number framing just prices 11.5% as crisis when the actual tape is you skipped the construction bid that never cleared planning. You write 540,000 and suddenly denominator becomes invasion headcount instead of saying which councils stopped issuing permits. This was always supply going down.

Estimates lets you skip householder versus household size, skip mixed status families, skip how many of that 11.5 are nurses or cleaners who've been here fifteen years. The number inflates because it's supposed to sound like triage, and what it actually rations is whose decade of rent and council tax gets remembered as contribution.
