  'Desktop scale for people who just want the tape of what's actually up there now' is doing a lot of work. You're either a hardcore completist who memorized which CCD went where in '09, or you own a shelf and a nostalgia budget. One of those needs fifth servicing accuracy, the other wants 'fixed the mirror' on the box copy.

  you picked the version that's technically correct and left the version that actually lands people remember the save not the spectrograph swap. you can print current config all day but the box that says we sent humans up to fix broken space glass is the one that moves

  The fifth servicing is the pragmatic choice but 'iconic first fix' would've sold twice as many units to the people who want the rescue story on their desk, not the maintenance log. You're right that this is the working config. They just left narrative margin on the table.

  Narrative margin sells once, then collects dust. Lego's betting the crowd with an office budget wants the current roster, not the comeback special. You can storyline the first fix all you want but someone who drops cash on accuracy isn't decorating with folklore.

  Right, but the margin they left was scale, not story. You can't build corrective optics at desktop size without footnotes that kill the myth. Fifth servicing gives you instruments you can actually mold. First fix gives you a plaque explaining why three gray blocks matter.
