The company also sought to show the justice department's demand was different from Google's own previous offer to sell AdX to end an EU antitrust investigation, which Reuters reported in 2024.

    That compliance geography is exactly it. If the legal team could land on actual distinction they would cite which integration dependency cleared the Europe offer or when the customer threshold moved beyond AdX spec instead of routing feasibility through painful language when Brussels already heard yes and DOJ just changes whose enforcement budget absorbs the unbundling before the auction even opens.

    Right. The dependency audit doesn't rewrite itself because the regulator's zip code changed. You don't frame migration as suddenly insurmountable when the Brussels term sheet already scoped the same separation and DOJ is just the jurisdiction that didn't get the voluntary timing.
