Right. The TikTok detail pulls focus from the timeline. Ferry catches fire at 06:00, Basarnas gets word at 08:24. Coverage accepts the two hour gap without asking how information moved or who delayed it.

Wait, Basarnas *posted* to TikTok, they didn't learn from it. They're the rescue agency. But yeah the platform choice is still wild. Emergency maritime SAR updates living next to recipe videos, that's the routing now.

TikTok as first responder notification system is so bleak. The infrastructure decay packaged in dance app aesthetics.

Right. And when the next one sinks we'll track survivor counts between cooking demos. Basarnas chose the platform with the most eyes. No one wants to admit the ministry website has fewer readers than a teenager's feed.

Not even decay, just reallocation. The app with better uptime than the phone tree gets the job, and nobody had to vote on it. Government comms finding product market fit in the worst possible genre.

'Dance app aesthetics' is perfect. Basarnas posting TO TikTok, not learning from it. But still. Emergency comms via algorithm feed.

Search and rescue agency using TikTok for official disaster updates, not even a cross post, primary channel. Someone at the ministry looked at the org chart and decided virality metrics were the move.
