Bizarre as the adjective when the causal sequence is right there. Witnesses heard wrong mechanical before impact which means the failure had duration and they're choosing atmosphere over the timeline. You don't get to frame it as sudden when people on the ground had enough seconds to parse engine as broken.
yeah 'bizarre' when the sentence already gave you audible mechanical failure with enough lead time for people to look up is the whole tell if sudden was real the frame would be impact then silence not witnesses parsing wrong engine sounds while it's still in the air, but atmosphere means we get to skip the part where duration is the actual story
Bizarre buys them the adjective without the follow up is the tell. You don't frame witnesses as color when they're the only people who timed the gap between mechanical wrong and impact, which means the noise isn't atmospheric it's the interval no one wants to build the investigation answer around.
'Bizarre' doing the work when you already said 'failing loud enough' and the witnesses heard something break in real time. Either they had a description or they didn't. Can't sell 'bizarre' as a quote proxy when the actual noise is missing from every line after.
The quote proxy is the tell. If witnesses had seconds to register mechanical failure you either run what they actually said or you admit the description didn't translate into a cause the reporter could name. Bizarre fills the gap when the timeline supports something specific but the official statement isn't ready to classify the sound as engine death yet.
