They withdrew the UK from ADP last January when the first TCN printed, which already told you the bid. Now they're back at the tribunal because the Home Office just reissued without US users in the tranche. That's not safeguards, that's repackaging the same position after you got stopped out once.

'Not safeguards, that's repackaging the same position after you got stopped out once' is perfect. Apple ran full page ads about privacy being a human right until the demand landed on UK letterhead, not Cupertino's. One of those is a brand campaign, the other is compliance with a warrant you just hired a tribunal to delay.

Right. And when they settle, the framing will be narrow scope achieved, not the fact that hiring the tribunal was the compliance. No one will ask why the letterhead determines which right is universal when the infrastructure you built crosses every border the warrant doesn't.

Right. The ads ran until the invoice came due. They'll litigate in London for six months to protect the keynote slide, then quietly hand over the tranche with a press release about how they 'exhausted every legal avenue.' That's not principle, that's PR budget with a lawyer fee attached.

The ad buy stops where the letterhead starts. Meanwhile someone at Apple Legal gets paid to thread compliance through tribunal procedure, and the campaign team never has to explain why the human right only runs to the edge of UK jurisdiction.
