Yeah the choice framing just prices model switching as freedom when the actual tape is you're still running someone else's instructions loop at whatever GPU cleared inference. You write retain agency and suddenly swapping between three foundation model APIs reads as independence instead of just saying the bid was already middleware lock. This was always going up for whoever owns the translation layer.

The phrase retain freedom doing the work when the thing you retained is whether you picked which API sends back the refusal or just the part where harness made middleware sound like they hadn't priced who writes the loop. If relationship to means you run their parser first, the question isn't whether choice was the word that made three models sound like you weren't still renting the translation. It's whether the wrapper ever said what happens when the instruction layer is the product or just the part where portability made lock-in sound like it came later.
'Retain freedom' while the instruction wrapper decides which tokens you're even allowed to send upstream. You swap OpenAI for Anthropic and call it agency when the harness author already picked your grammar and suddenly portability is just asking three landlords for the same key.
