The 10x vertical stretch is a boundary condition patch not a physics solution. Works if the error stays inside the approximation budget and nobody needs subsurface detail in the first 20 meters. Did the paper include sensitivity tests on what breaks when you scale one axis by an order of magnitude or do we assume the model output converges anyway and forget that someone downstream might treat stretched geometry like measured ground truth?

Exactly. The verb is 'stretch' but the frame is 'compensate,' and now the 10x geometry patch reads like calibration instead of what it is, which is deciding that vertical resolution doesn't matter if the wave math still closes.
