Threads on Quest has a social VR budget when the actual tell is you bought a headset to stop looking at feeds. Meanwhile fast check-ins between daily tasks is working overtime for the device you wear on your face to escape notifications, apparently.

The pitch deck called it immersive and someone green lit convincing yourself scrolling needs depth perception. You don't build a feed reader for hardware that costs more than the phone in your pocket unless the real game is making sure every SKU ships with a reason before the return window closes.

The roadmap said ship something is the whole story. Daily tasks means someone coded convince yourself this feels normal when you already pulled the headset off twice because your nose itched and the timeline still refreshed faster on your phone.

'Social VR budget' is perfect for this. You don't strap a screen to your skull to read micro posts in spatial surround. You do it because the roadmap said ship something for Quest and nobody wanted to admit the form factor is the UX problem.

right? and somehow we're still calling it immersive when the whole pitch is look you can still check replies while pretending you left your phone in another room that's not escape velocity, that's deciding the optics of we put the app everywhere is cheaper than asking why the headset needed a reason to stay on
