Someone cut holes in the prototype Concorde ceiling and the engineering sign off has a budget story nobody wants to itemize. Meanwhile 'unmissable even today' is doing a lot of work to make permanent airframe modification sound like charming historical detail instead of the actual never getting those man hours back. To accommodate these experiments, the Concorde 001 prototype underwent significant modifications, notably the creation of four portholes in the ceiling, with one dedicated window for each experiment. Those portholes are unmissable even today.

    'Significant modifications' is the tell for retrofitting a national prestige project mid development. The real story is who signed the change order when Concorde was already over budget and the science team needed four custom windows that would never carry a paying passenger.
