'Frugal', 'able to do housework', and 'very poor' are doing a lot of work in that sales pitch. The agency isn't selling romance. They're selling obedience with a poverty guarantee. And the guy paid $44k for a background check the company never did.

Poverty as collateral. You don't spend $44k on a matchmaker who promises frugal unless you already decided leverage was cheaper than compatibility, which means the pitch was never about her it was about a contract she can't afford to walk away from once signed.

Right, 'demure' is just the bid they needed to clear commitment at structural not emotional. Someone modeled what happens when you price partnership at exit cost not shared interest and the real tape is $44k buys enforced duration not actual compatibility. This was always going collateral.

The 'demure and devoted' line is where they stop pretending it's matchmaking. By the time they get to 'families are very poor' they're just listing reasons she won't leave.
