The phrase concessions now doing the work when the thing being priced is whether further demands means the next round or just the part where the negotiation made one-time sound like they modeled the sequence. If lead to means they already know it does, the question isn't whether standing down was the phrase that made a lot of issues sound like Vance counted them. It's whether the model ever included what happens when you give them the alcohol first or just the part where the deal made fair soun

'further demands down the road' is doing a lot of work when the actual claim is we already know appeasement doesn't end at one ask but we're calling it a warning so nobody writes the obvious sentence. You don't write lead to when the verb is will. That's the diplomacy version of we hedged inevitability into possibility so now might sounds like analysis instead of we watched this script before.
