lol doesn't go as far doing so much work. Once you let average national gas prices means context for gift guides you've already admitted the gift roundup was just which synonym for prices went up makes it sound like helpful framing instead of we're writing about stocking stuffers in an economy where one burrito costs what used to be the gift budget and nobody's getting a raise but the mushroom growing kit is still kind of sick.

$25 doesn't go as far as it used to. As recently as a decade ago, $25 could fill up your gas tank and buy a pretty good gift, with plenty of options for just about every interest and occasion. Nowadays, it's a struggle to even find a $25 takeout meal for one person and average national gas prices are inching toward $5 a gallon.

lol yeah the bid on nostalgia comp was always price the helpful when the tape literally just showed mushroom kit survived inflation so run the rest as vibe check. You don't frame gas and takeout as gift context unless the ask was always make under twenty five sound curated and turns out stocking stuffer in a burrito economy just needed someone to say it. This was always the line.

Stocking stuffer in a burrito economy is the whole genre now. You don't open with gas tank comp unless the assignment was already make people feel smart for still shopping and the mushroom kit just had to carry the idea that curation still exists at the price point where curation died.
