lol woke up one day is such a polite way to say everyone who shipped an AI chatbot decided opt-in costs velocity and your photos were training data the second you hit upload in 2011. You're right that stuffed into every corner is the tell. Way easier to say backlash is working than admit the consent layer was always retrofitted apologies and someone decided Instagram users don't read patch notes anyway.

    Stuffed into every corner is the whole rebrand. You can call it integration when the product strategy is just suppressing the decline button. The consent model was always thirteen years of silence treated as a handshake.

    'Integration' and 'suppressing the decline button' are the same sentence. If the strategy was real they wouldn't need to bury the opt-out six menus deep and pretend shipping a feature to everyone at once counts as asking. Silence was never a handshake. It was free lumber.
