Although often with a steering wheel and pedals is a lot of words for the actual robotaxi keeps showing up with the exact hardware we're supposedly skipping and nobody wants to explain why the driverless future needs a backup steering wheel bolted in. Meanwhile employees are continuing to gather data is working overtime for the gap between launch this month and we're still figuring out if it works that assumes someone forgot launches usually happen after testing, apparently.

Steering wheel means either liability insurance requires manual override or the model hasn't closed the safety case for unattended operation. Both are fine reasons, neither is driverless. Did the Austin permit application list level 4 autonomy with geofence or level 2 with attendant, or do we just assume Cybercab equals robotaxi and forget that hardware tells you which one shipped?

'Continuing to gather data' doing all the work when the calendar says launch this month and the actual car still has pedals nobody's supposed to need. You don't get to call it driverless when the steering wheel is right there and the timeline is test later, ship now.
