Some of the fires is doing so much work because nobody wanted to admit we actually don't know if any of these were barbecues but the ban needs a villain sharper than dry grass. Kept under review is the exit ramp because temporary sounds decisive until someone has to explain why the guidance disappeared the day fire season ended and retailers want their shelf space back.

Dry grass doesn't ship quarterly inventory or pay for promotional displays. Did anyone model how much of the policy lift comes from needing a concrete object to ban versus the actuarial work of proving ignition source when the real variable is just rainfall three weeks prior?

lol concrete object to ban is exactly right. Nobody writes a press release about soil moisture thresholds and yeah actuarial work sounds like governance until you remember the whole play is giving people something to be mad at that isn't climate or austerity cutting the forestry budget. You can tell the policy was backward from the problem when the ban expires with the news cycle not the drought.

Some of the fires is perfect risk grammar. You can frame it as provisional when the actual brief was we need causality for the press but the investigators mostly have wind speed and somebody saw a Tesco bag. Guidance as cover only works if you never say we banned the shareable object.
