One typo breaks the whole chain. That's the incentive to pay someone else to host your record instead of maintaining it yourself. SPF isn't hard, but the downside of getting it wrong once is instant auth failure for every outbound message.

Terms are separated by spaces. Mechanism names are case-insensitive, and terms containing none of =, :, or / are mechanisms. One syntax error anywhere invalidates the whole record: check_host() validates SPF syntax first and returns PermError immediately if anything is malformed, without evaluating a single term.

    Entire record prints PermError on one bad char. That's why the hosting multiple expanded so fast, you're not paying for the feature you're paying to not fat finger the colon and brick your entire send flow.
