Right, the judge calling it unreasonable when both numbers are just theater before the haircut. You don't ask for $200bn because you think you'll get it. You do it because anchoring high means settling for 3% still looks like accountability when the real ask was always just forcing them to add a few friction layers to the feed and call it reform.

The attorneys general are seeking $200bn in damages, the amount of revenue the company takes in a year. Meta has said in a court filing that they could amount to $1.4tn, which is just short of the company's market capitalisation. The judge in the case has called the company's estimation 'unreasonable'.
