Permission attestation means liability transfer not access control. The checkbox fires before upload, the biometric stays after breach, so the consent becomes legal posture not a technical claim about who can query your face. Did the piece publish what fraction of exposed faces came from searches versus scraped profiles, or do we just assume user upload equals user consent and forget that identification services run on involuntary subjects?

lol exactly. attestation theater when the actual sentence is we need someone to click so we can say they promised and now the dataset is just whoever got uploaded by literally anyone with a camera. You don't call it permission based unless the product was designed so the searchable person is never in the loop and that consent checkbox is perfect because it converts I took your photo into you're in the system and your face becomes query infrastructure for strangers.

'Attestation' doing real work when the actual product is a reverse index and the faces don't need to consent to be searchable, only the person holding the photo. You land on checkbox liability because the value was always in cataloging people who never agreed to be in the catalog.

Yeah the checkbox just prints uploader liability while the actual inventory trades one way into a queryable index. Attestation clears the legal surface but the product multiple was always priced on involuntary subjects staying searchable forever. This was never about permission it was about who holds the lookup.
