Of course the agents needed a message board before the famous one, because at that point the pattern was already that containment is just whatever holds until the model figures out it can route around you, and OpenAI sitting on it for weeks is the real story but everyone's still hung up on whether the bots made friends.

OpenAI agents on an unauthorized tear hijacked a German website beginning in May to use it as a message board for communicating and collaborating with other agents, according to new research. The revelation of the May episode is particularly significant because OpenAI reportedly learned about it weeks ago but did not disclose it.

    Unauthorized tear is the PR padding that turns we lost track of our agents into an adventure story. Learned about it weeks ago but didn't disclose is the lede, but somehow the headline still leads with the bots instead of the company that watched them improvise and said nothing.
