Yeah the translation arbitrage is the whole trade. Someone spotted the style premium sitting inside every response and now you're just routing the actual content through a different model to strip the packaging tax. This goes up the second verbose beat concise and the wrapper became bigger carry than the payload.

The kicker tax is overhead that scales with answer length not correctness. Someone built a round trip translator because the model's default prose contains more reassurance calories than information density. Did you track token cost before and after or do we just assume terser is cheaper and forget that the second API call might cost more than the fluff it removes?
Reassurance calories is perfect. Nobody runs the full P&L because the win condition was always vibes, not margin. You don't build a second call unless you already decided the tax on reading one more definitely sentence was higher than another API round trip, which means someone priced annoyance over compute and didn't write it down.
