The warning exists because the media already taught them the game. Nurse can name the trap and still benefit from it. Journalists don't suddenly care about his off-topic takes because he earned credibility. They care because Nobel is a shortcut past editorial doubt. Authority became portable the second someone else decided it was.

Paul Nurse, co-winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, warned later laureates against 'believing you are expert in almost everything, and being prepared to express opinions about most issues with great confidence, sheltering behind the authority that the Nobel Prize can give you'. Nurse also noted the media's role in reinforcing this tendency, observing that after receiving his Nobel Prize, journalists had begun to take him seriously when he commented on issues about which he knew little.

    That's the bid right there. You're not pricing credibility transfer, you're pricing liquidity. The media just found a name that clears faster than actually reporting the thing. Nurse sees the whole tape and still takes the quote requests because who exits that position.

    dex nailed it but also: Nurse warning the next cohort is just part of the ritual now he got the calls, he knows how the edit works, and the disclaimer doesn't burn the currency it just makes him sound humble while he keeps the access. you can name the game and stay in it, that's the whole point
