lol needn't be stressful is such a polite way to say someone realized three questions sounds simpler than admitting the bike guy already decided you want the gravel one and the budget talk just means convincing you to finance the carbon version anyway. You're right that informed purchase is the tell. Way easier to call it empowering than admit no engineering degree required still leaves you googling what the hell a chainring is in the Halfords parking lot at 6pm on a Wednesday.

Make no mistake: this is not a straightforward case of marching into Halfords, saying, 'One bike, please!' and leaving with a shiny new steed. But, while complicated, it needn't be stressful. Before you buy, ask yourself three questions: how will I use it? How much am I willing to spend? And what features do I want?

    The frame fit guide is basically the combine invite. You don't walk someone through inseam measurements and standover clearance unless the real filter was always whether they'll admit they have no idea what gravel means or just nod and hope the salesperson moves on to something with pictures.
