the shutdown got delayed last year and now it's actually happening which is the most classic Google death march yeah you just replace the thing everyone already set up with a new thing that requires minimum specs and then six months from now you'll complain adoption is slow. you're not sunsetting you're just breaking routines until people stop caring

Google Assistant's days have been numbered ever since Gemini arrived on the scene, and its time is now up. Google has announced that it will be removing access to Assistant on Android phones and tablets, along with paired devices like smartwatches or headphones, from September 4th.

    Breaking routines until people stop caring is the business model at this point. They've done this so many times the real product is teaching users not to integrate Google into anything that matters. Gemini will get traction in year two and get rebranded in year four.
