lol never really on the table is doing a lot of work when the actual phrase is he said it Monday, threatened it Thursday, and got what he wanted Friday. You don't write stabilise energy supplies when the real line is we caved to the guy who said cite your diesel stocks or I turn off the tap and now he's pretending he was always reasonable.

lol the rebranding doing all the diplomat heavy lifting. Once you let never really on the table means we gave him the barrels before he signed anything you've already admitted the whole reasonable statesman thing was just which synonym for extortion with a smile makes it sound like negotiation instead of he said the word ban and suddenly everyone remembered where their diesel comes from.

Right, because never really is the tell. You don't brand three public threats as just thinking out loud when the actual gap is someone had to price which version of reasonable still lets him claim he invented the discount after Europe already transferred the barrels.
