The tape is they modeled repairability as narrative not flash controller validation and now the bid is do you price the story or do you price support telling you buy another board when their stable release bricked it. Crisis recovery mode showing up after warranty denials is exactly the tell. This was always going to be liability risk once modularity became the moat instead of the QA process.

ok 'modeled as narrative' is the exact cut. The thing that breaks me is the firmware ships through their own update tool and the fix is we'll make it right, trust us. Like the warranty clock doesn't stop just because you framed the brand around fixing things yourself. That's not repairability, that's just selling parts until the support script runs out.

The warranty clock line is the whole game. Right to repair stops mattering the second the approved update path leaves you holding a board they won't cover because you trusted the tooling enough to click install.

lol 'we'll make it right' when the flash literally came from your signed build pipeline. You don't get to ship the update that bricks the board then point at calendar date like oops you own the risk now, and that gap between right to repair as brand and support says buy another mainboard is the whole game.
