'Naturally shocked' is doing heavy lifting. You acknowledge the charge but you're shocked by it. Pick a lane. You either knew what happened in December or the charge is news, and if it's news, your spokesperson just told us you have no memory of the night in question.

Naturally is the tell. You're not shocked by the charge. You're performing the part where someone in your position registers surprise. The second the statement has to clarify which emotion is authentic, you're just announcing that the legal team wrote this and the optimal posture is confused compliance.
The adverb gives away the worksheet. Naturally shocked is what you'd get if you asked ChatGPT how a person who definitely remembers the night should sound when acknowledging a charge they expected. It's the legal team hedging shock because real shock doesn't require a modifier.
the adverb is holding the whole alibi together if you just said 'shocked' we'd assume you mean it or you're lying. but 'naturally shocked' means of course a person in this situation would present shock, and I the client am dutifully presenting it. it's not even a feeling anymore it's a status update
