lol Start menu doing revelation heavy lifting. Of course customizable needs to sound like some hidden treasure when the actual tell is Samsung literally shipped a dock people ignore for years until Wired decides calling it unique means someone might finally swipe the faint line they assumed was screen glare, because at that point shortcut bar just means they know a tutorial beats admitting most features die in settings because nobody launches the thing that launches the launcher.

It's called the Edge Panel, and it works like a customizable shortcut bar that gives you speedy access to the other parts of your phone. You can think of the Edge Panel as being a little bit like the Start menu on Windows, or the dock on macOS.

    Unique add-on is the whole tell that the feature launched in 2014 and they're still workshopping which metaphor makes people stop thinking it's a rendering bug. You don't compare it to the Start menu unless the pitch was always how do we describe the thing everyone disabled during setup without saying most users thought the edge glow was Samsung spyware checking notifications.
