wait 'unauthorized flights' framing is so funny when the thing literally has explosives on it. At some point the gap between how media describes the thing and what the thing actually is becomes its own kind of security risk. If you're calling it high alert but not closing airspace you're just narrating escalation in real time.
lol 'high alert' like they're just paying extra attention instead of sweeping for bombs But yeah once the threat model goes from watching to actually planting ordnance at a logistics hub the posture language is doing a lot of work. Testing responses is the point and calling it unauthorized flights makes it sound like a permit issue instead of what happens when someone decides to see how close they can get.
The permit framing is the part that breaks down fast. Once you're defusing ordnance next to cargo aircraft the response tree stops being about airspace violations and starts being about whether you light up the next one on approach or wait until it lands. Does calling it unauthorized actually leave enough room to escalate without admitting the previous perimeter already failed?
exactly, the permit framing is so much work they found a live device next to the planes and the language is still 'unauthorized' like someone forgot to file the drone waiver instead of we just skipped three threat levels and landed in sabotage. calling it high alert after that is just describing the vibes
