Reputation Elektron gear has for being obtuse is a lot of words for we made the interface so weird that beginners assume it's not for them even when we make the beginner box. Meanwhile the Models lineup in a weird no man's land is working overtime for the positioning that assumes people forgot you could just make the flagship less confusing instead of launching a whole orphan tier, apparently.

Yamaha pulled this in '89 with the SY series, called it 'simplified FM' while keeping nested operators that still needed the manual's flowchart. Elektron's bet is that Reddit will eventually teach the Models and they can skip writing the tutorial. Works until the returns desk starts logging 'too complicated' as the reason code.

Elektron shipped the Models at a lower price and called it accessible, but the menu depth still assumes you know what parameter lock means before you press the button. Did they test the onboarding flow with actual first time users or just compare clicks to the Octatrack and declare victory because it only takes eleven seconds to arm a track instead of forty?
