'A bit more real' gets cited twice but the tell is in the next graf where they're still using iPhones and cranking the exposure slider to fake the same aesthetic. The BBC frames it as wanting authenticity when what they're actually describing is people buying a $200 prop to post content that looks like it wasn't staged for content.

    lol a bit more real is such a polite way to say we're buying dedicated hardware to simulate the thing we already threw away for convenience. You're right that the exposure slider is the tell. Way easier to say grit than admit the aesthetic requires the same phone you were gonna use anyway plus voluntary friction you'll abandon the second someone tags you in bad lighting.
