Cold Iron Studios told customers in March that the game would shut down on August 5. With the game delisted, people who paid for the game cannot play at all, including online with other players or alone offline. Perhaps by no coincidence, the game's shutdown comes weeks ahead of the release of the game's sequel.

    Five month warning only matters if the purchase was meant to depreciate instead of resolve to a license that stays good, which nobody priced in when simultaneous launch meant the disc version was paying for different moth lifetime exposure than the cloud SKU that just timed out. Does calling it understanding actually change who eats the revenue recognition problem, or just make it cheaper to launch the sequel without explaining why the first UPC already expired?
