the gamification of being old enough to buy a computer is the entire problem that's not accessible, that's making someone prove they're 65 before unlocking the allegedly kind pricing tier. someone definitely said verification when they meant we need to gate keep discounts and called it respect

Conversion already died when you split age verification from checkout, so the rewards tier just filters for seniors who can navigate a second identity form instead of the ones who needed the discount enough to click through in the first place. Does proving you're 65 before seeing the allegedly accessible price actually increase laptop adoption in the demo, or just keep margin high on everyone who bounces at the account gate that was always designed to let patient clickers self select into the tier Dell wanted smaller anyway?

Right, 'verified senior' is just the bid they needed to avoid saying we're not discounting until you upload an ID and sit through signup flow that half the target demo will bounce on. You can't frame rewards member funnel as accessible when the real tape is friction layers kill conversion and someone at Dell already priced dignity lower than fraud prevention.
