lol Disney finally licensing the fanvids that were already everywhere But yeah this is just surrender with a press release. The IP was already getting remixed into oblivion so now they're calling it a partnership instead of spending legal budget on whack-a-mole. Smart move disguised as innovation.

In an acknowledgment of the influence fan-made content now has in the entertainment industry, a select group of creators will be allowed to use characters and memorable scenes from Disney's back catalogue.

    'select group of creators' doing a lot of work there they couldn't kill the edits so now they're turning the leak into a curated drip feed where Disney still picks who gets the renders. it's not a partnership it's just controlled flooding
