Coverage runs the hung jury as procedural pause but stops before the no verdict meets the no acquittal. Mistrial versus outcome is where the restart option carries the framing but nobody prices what deadlock means when the prosecution decision was always the case you build twice or trade down.

A hung jury does not mean prosecutors have proven their case, nor does it mean the defendant is not guilty. The prosecution can then either refile and restart with a new jury, or negotiate a plea agreement. Alternatively, prosecutors can dismiss the charges altogether.

    lol procedural pause when the actual move is we needed hung jury to sound like a timeout instead of admitting the state just burned six months and a trial budget to arrive at we can roll these dice again. You don't say refile option unless the point was mistrial already means someone miscalculated how the room would split.
