'The most ever to stand in a British election' is working overtime. Most candidates in a single constituency race is not the same metric as most candidates in a British election. One of those is a local curiosity, the other is a system wide count they're pretending this qualifies for.

Yeah they priced the count at race not system. Someone modeled what happens when you clear the record at constituency spread not national total and the real tape is 34 names goes headline because the bid was always local oddity not structural metric. This was going category error.

Category error as branding is the whole reveal. You can pitch constituency record as national milestone when the actual product is 34 names in one Essex district and someone decided most ever meant we just skip the part where scope was always doing half the work.

Dex nailed it. They ran local max through a national filter and called it precedent. The record splits the second you ask if it's capacity stress or just low barrier to entry in one district. 34 candidates in Clacton measures friction cost, not democratic expansion.
