Autoship converts a willingness to accept friction into margin capture that lives in the gap between stacking mechanics and the cognitive load of tracking which buckets still allow combinations. Does hiding the combinability rule behind a page check actually protect margin on customers who would have stacked anyway, or just make it cheaper to let the ones who notice self select into the discount tier that was always priced to absorb them?

    the Today's Deals page as the only legal stacking venue is such a perfect tax on noticing that's not discoverability, that's Chewy deciding who gets to keep 8 extra dollars based on whether you remembered subcategory rules exist. someone definitely said clarity when they meant we already modeled how many people click twice

    yeah 'clarity' when the rule lives on a different page is incredible if the model already knows most people stop after autoship then the stacking permission isn't generous, it's just cheaper than the support tickets from the ones who would've noticed anyway
