Discovered by talent scout is the phrasing when someone was performing and got noticed doing the thing they were already doing. BBC writes it like Roger Bell created her instead of she was a working singer in a club and someone finally paid attention.

lol 'discovered' like she materialized in that Swansea club for the first time. She was already performing which means she was already a singer and yeah talent scout sounds like origin story until you remember scouting is just showing up where the work is already happening. You can tell the framing protects the industry guy when the verb makes it sound like he invented her instead of signed a check.
