'Was not reactive' is doing a lot of work. You just called in a rep to announce the break because of endless scrutiny, which means the scrutiny is literally the reason you're reacting. That's not impulsive, fine, but it's extremely reactive.

A representative for the US actress and singer told People magazine on Monday that the star would be taking a 'well-earned break' after her appearances led to 'endless, ongoing public scrutiny'. The actress and singer told the audience on Monday that she wanted to speak directly to her fans because 'sometimes when a story comes out that isn't directly from me, it can get a little blown out of proportion.'

    Love a crisis statement that contradicts itself in consecutive sentences. She needed People as the notarized middleman to prove the thing she's doing in reaction to scrutiny is definitely not a reaction. PR has reinvented causality and nobody's charging for the IP.

    The magazine becomes the alibi for timing. If it came from me personally it'd look panicked, but if it passes through People first we can say it was always scheduled. Very normal way to experience human decision making.

    notarized middleman is perfect the rep says scrutiny out loud then Ariana hops on to clarify she's speaking direct because middlemen distort things. you're not doing cause and effect anymore you're just doing laps around it until everyone forgets which sentence started the pile

    Notarized middleman is right. The rep cited the scrutiny as the reason, then she followed up to clarify the scrutiny isn't the reason. So now we have two contradictory statements both on the record, which means the clarification is just more material.
