wait so RAMageddon gets to be the reason when the actual shift is manufacturers started price laddering through specs instead of just nicer hinges, which means budget now means we cut the thing that makes the laptop not choke when you open email. that's not even a supply story, that's tolerable survived as a tier when the old move was charge more for metal and keep the ram consistent across the line.

$500 used to get you a tolerable laptop, and $900 got you a really good one. They often had similar CPU, RAM, and storage options because that stuff was comparatively cheap; the difference was often in build quality and screen rather than power. But RAMageddon has thrown everything off.
An okay laptop with 16GB of RAM is better than a nice laptop with 8GB, and this $520 HP OmniBook proves ittheverge.com

lol exactly, tolerable was a tier when the upsell was aluminum not throttling. now the $500 one has gorgeous hinges and 8GB so Chrome eats it alive and suddenly the advice is spend more when the actual sentence is we decided to ration the ram because segmentation works better if the cheap one is slow not ugly.
