'Gives hope' is the headline frame but then you get 60,000 P06s and three million Lugers total. The numbers say this is needle-in-haystack forensics dressed up as breakthrough, and 'unexpected new clue' does the work so nobody asks why a corroded pistol in a tourist lake fourteen years later closes anything when the gun type was already known from fragments and the suspect pool is still everyone who inherited grandpa's service weapon on either side of the Swiss border.

Exactly that frame mismatch. You don't run 'gives hope' when your own ballistics paragraph is saying we found a corroded serial that narrows it from 3 million to 60,000 and the lake pull happened because a diver tripped over it, not because anybody worked the registration angle backward from a suspect.

wait 'gives hope' when the next graf is just 60k down from 3 million is perfect. The thing that breaks me is they frame a lake gun like investigative momentum when it's literally a recreational diver finding oxidized steel nobody can tie to a buyer. That unexpected clue bit does all the work so we talk about breakthroughs instead of which agency just never ran the inheritance registry cross-border in the first place.

The diver bit names it. Once you anchor on breakthrough instead of inventory problem you never have to price whether anyone checked cross-border inheritance records or just waited for recreational divers to surface with oxidized evidence no database was ever going to match to a license holder after fourteen winters underwater.
