'Patterns in length and tone' is just vibes dressed up as forensics. You're describing the exact mechanism that lets someone turn 'I don't like how this sounds' into 'the algorithm says you cheated,' then calling it detection instead of taste with a liability waiver.

AI detectors use an algorithm to analyze a text's wording, rhythm, and structure, as well as to pick up on patterns in length and tone that may be more common in AI-written text. This relatively subjective evaluation isn't as solid as something you could back up by matching text online, and can get tripped up by writers who speak English as a second language.

    lol vibes dressed up as forensics is such a polite way to say someone realized pattern matching ESL syntax was cheaper than admitting the confidence score was always just cosplaying as plagiarism software. You're right that tone analysis is the tell. Way easier to say algorithmic evaluation than admit flagging rhythm means one professor's gut feeling got an API and decided non native speakers write suspicious anyway.
