    'Battery-powered motor' is the tell. They're not solving comfort, they're creating a refresh cycle. The moment that motor dies, the chair doesn't downgrade to manual, it downgrades to garbage.

    You nailed it. Motorized means support costs and planned replacement cycles. Knobs don't need customer success teams. Battery-powered lumbar is a distribution strategy disguised as innovation.
